  Your perfect wedding venue...
There was nothing more you could have done for them to make their day go smoothly in every detail and be memorable for them. The location was perfect, the hotel was just what they wanted, and you and all your staff were superb” Deborah Kirk – referring to son Peter and Fiona’s wedding – 24th April 2010

Dear Graham, Richard, and all the other members of the fantastic team at Barclay House - you'll remember me as Best Man from the wedding this weekend just gone.

I just wanted to send a note, on behalf of all the families and friends, and of course Kim and Stuart, to say thank you so much for the fantastic two days. I thought the whole thing was managed superbly, and most importantly, the quality of service and attention to detail was truly excellent, helping to create a relaxed and hugely enjoyable time for all.

Thanks again to everyone involved. Oh, and thank you for throwing in the good weather too! PS. my additional thanks to Richard for solving my bow tie crisis!

In collaboration with Cornwall Wildlife Trust, Barclay House is offering a once in a lifetime opportunity to marry on legendary St.George’s Island. The island is known to date back to 1139 and includes the ruins of a Benedictine chapel, legend also states that Joseph of Arimethea landed here with the child Christ.

The island was inhabited by two sisters who lived in the stunning surroundings until 2004, when the Island was left as a legacy to Cornwall Wildlife Trust. Channel 4 recently featured St George's Island on Time Team due to its significant archaeological appeal.

The 22 acre island is now managed by the Trust as a marine nature reserve with weddings limited strictly to 12 per year, making it one of the most coveted venues in Cornwall.

The unique package means that guests can take advantage of the awe-inspiring scenery of their own private island, with the bride and groom arriving separately by boat from the mainland historic fishing town of Looe. Ceremonies are especially intimate, with numbers strictly limited to no more than 32 guests.

After the ceremony, couples can celebrate with friends and family and keep in the Cornish spirit with a sparkling wine toast from Camel Valley vineyard. Guests are then escorted from the island to the reception and wedding breakfast at Barclay House in Looe which boasts an AA rosette award winning restaurant, six acres of ever changing gardens and woodlands, accommodation of 11 bedrooms and eight luxury self catering cottages.

Notes:
- Weddings can only take place on the island between the months of April-September.
- The island is licensed for weddings until 21st June 2012.
- Barclay House will act as a back up venue if the island were inaccessible for any reason on the day of the ceremony.
- St.George’s Island is a marine nature reserve
- Only the trust’s boat, The Islander may be used to ferry guest to and from the Island.
- Compostable confetti only can be used on the Island.
- All island weddings must be booked through Barclay House.
