Weddings on St Georges
Island Looe: Island Nuptials
Barclay House and
St.George’s island offer
unique wedding location
'Islands in the Stream' is
widely recognised as a first
dance for many a couple
across the UK. Cornish
bolthole hotel, Barclay
House, is quite literally
putting the lyrics into
action with the chance for
couples to take their vows
on their very own private
island. |

In
collaboration with
Cornwall Wildlife Trust,
Barclay House is offering a
once in a lifetime
opportunity to marry on
legendary St.George’s
Island. The island is known
to date back to 1139 and
includes the ruins of a
Benedictine chapel, legend
also states that Joseph of
Arimethea landed here with
the child Christ.
The island
was inhabited by two sisters
who lived in the stunning
surroundings until 2004,
when the Island was left as
a legacy to Cornwall
Wildlife Trust. Channel 4
recently featured St
George's Island on Time Team
due to its significant
archaeological appeal.
The 22 acre island is now
managed by the Trust as a
marine nature reserve with
weddings limited strictly to
12 per year, making it one
of the most coveted venues
in Cornwall.
The unique
package means that guests
can take advantage of the
awe-inspiring scenery of
their own private island,
with the bride and groom
arriving separately by boat
from the mainland historic
fishing town of Looe.
Ceremonies are especially
intimate, with numbers
strictly limited to no more
than 32 guests. |

Your perfect wedding venue... |

Dear Graham, Richard, and all the other
members of the fantastic team at Barclay
House - you'll remember me as Best Man from
the wedding this weekend just gone.
I just wanted to send a note, on behalf of
all the families and friends, and of course
Kim and Stuart, to say thank you so much for
the fantastic two days. I thought the whole
thing was managed superbly, and most
importantly, the quality of service and
attention to detail was truly excellent,
helping to create a relaxed and hugely
enjoyable time for all.
Thanks again to everyone involved. Oh, and
thank you for throwing in the good weather
too! PS. my additional thanks to Richard for
solving my bow tie crisis! |
